Cerebral Palsy:
Cerebral Palsy is the blanket term for a group of neurological disorders that affect communication between the brain and the muscles. Indicators are generally seen in children before the age of two, with severe cases appearing at as early as three months. Generally speaking, people with Cerebral Palsy experience symptom characterized by impairment of muscular coordination. In many cases individuals impacted by cerebral palsy find it hard to talk, see, hear, sit or swallow. Although there is no cure for Cerebral Palsy, early diagnosis and therapy go a long way in improving the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Developmental Disabilities:
The term “developmental disability” is used to describe a diverse group of chronic conditions that result from any physical and/or mental impairment that manifests itself before the age of twenty-two. Developmental disabilities affect several body parts or systems, and can be of many types. In general they encompass nervous system disabilities, sensory related disabilities, metabolic disorders, and degenerative disorders.
